My father knew Léon de Smet personally. L de Smet was making a portrait of my mother and my father saw the drawing in Léon de Smet's workplace in Deurle . My father fell immediately in love with the girl on the canvass... in any case that is what my parents told me when I was a child. Of course I still have the drawing of my mother. And she is not in the nude! ;-) Imagine... some 50 years ago you could buy a painting from him for a few thousand Belgian Francs. By the way, a great artist.

Interesting image of this art work. It's good the management will permit photography in the museum.
